When I think milhojas, I usually think arequipe!
With that being said, thanks to this masterpiece, I now am TEAM STRAWBERRY!
The way the subtle acidity of the strawberry played with the sweet pastry cream and allowed the actual puff pastry cracker to shine, was BEAUTIFUL!
Although, I have a soft spot for arequipe, it definitely takes over and hogs your palate.
This baker, makes these desserts to order, so make sure you honor them by eating them as soon as possible.
In this specific dessert, I really love when it’s still super crunchy and flaky. If you let it sit too long, between the Florida humidity and the other ingredients, it can get soggy pretty fast. Some people don’t mind it and even embrace it, I for one don’t!
