As I was working my way down from Branford, I stopped in Gainesville for some sightseeing and a pick me up.
Volta was the spot and I’m happy it was, because I got to try this cool cup of hot chocolate.
It’s Mexican chocolate with spicy chilies, cornmeal and cinnamon.
The spicy chilies go so well with the chocolate. A whole cup of hot chocolate is normally too much for me. This was interesting and balanced enough where I could drink the entire thing.
I know the cornmeal sounds like a weird component, but it provides a comforting texture as well as weight for a more filling and satisfying drink.
Our coffees on the other hand were good, but not hot enough. I know coffee connoisseur etiquette calls for coffee not being heated over a certain temperature, but on a chilly day, I want my coffee hot!
If you’re in Gainesville, check them out!
