This restaurant has been a hotspot in Orlando for quite some time. So much so, that they’ve never taken reservations. It’s first come first serve and there’s always a wait.
I suggest, you come on a weekday and plan to have a drink by the bar, while you wait for your table.
The Michelin Guide recently awarded them a Bib Gourmand and this has hyped the spot even more.
I hadn’t been back for some time and I wanted to see how they were keeping up with their fame and high demand.
I am happy to inform, they are definitely living up to it, because everything I had was on point.
They offer a vegan ramen, which was the main reason for my visit. They have a miso and a spicy miso option, and I went with spicy.
I felt, I should have gone with the non spicy option, because I think I missed out on experiencing the broth and its character due to the heat getting in the way.
It was delicious, don’t get me wrong… I am just making that comment in the capacity of a critic.
I’m not mad at all, this only means I need to come in again, and have another bowl of deliciousness.
I do have to say, I was rubbed in the wrong way by our server. I was sitting at the ramen bar and there were 2 ladies next to me inquiring about the brûlée eggs. Our server, said; those are eggs and dismissed them.
I didn’t read into it, because he was busy putting orders together, but I felt the need to illustrate them on what it actually was, mostly because I get very excited about food, especially when its good food and I didn’t want them to miss out.
He noticed and started to make fun of me passive aggressively with the ladies and some of the staff.
I’m not losing any sleep over it, but there’s a certain responsibility bestowed on the staff of a place like this, because they are an intricate part of your experience.
I’m sure he thought he was being cool and hip, but being indifferent and conceited isn’t the best way to go.
Apart from that slight mishap, I think this place and its food deserves the recognition.
It is on the top of my list of suggestions for people to visit in Orlando!
