I’ve been making San Antonio style puffy tacos for years and this is the first time I’ve eaten them in the City Beautiful.
For me it was love at first taste, the texture of the crispy and flaky corn masa taco is hard to beat!
They take the fresh masa and deep fry it rather than griddling it. It just puffs up like magic and puts all other tortillas to shame.
Normally puffy tacos are filled with Tex-Mex, where these are getting more traditional Mexican fillings, which I think it’s best of both worlds.
They are calling theirs Fluffy, I say puffy, you say huffy… it doesn’t matter… they’re delicious!
