I want to first congratulate the restaurant, the @ritzcarltonorlando and the team for opening during Covid-19 and being able to celebrate their 1st year anniversary of success!
I also want to thank everyone for inviting me to be a part of this beautiful event. I love that Orlando has a place like this. I can see the vision and I applaud the aim. KUDOS!!!
With that being said, I chose dessert as the focus of my piece, because it was the only dish I was able to eat completely. It was quite torturing in a good way not be able to try all the dishes in their entirety due to my recent decision to become a vegetarian. The only bone I have to pick is that they didn’t have a veggie alternative. It is clear the restaurant is steak centered, but it shouldn’t be an impediment to have a greener option available. As my good friend @letstrythis_orlando said to our server: “it is 2021, you know”. I asked her to let it go, and chose to understand it was a special dinner for a special night and substitutions would have been hard, especially with all the thought, collaboration, heart and hard work that was put into it.
Luckily, I’m a very lenient vegetarian, so I ate around the meat and favored the other guests at my table with my protein. Believe me, they were all fighting over it.
It was an epic dinner with epic people. I enjoyed myself immensely. Thank you again! @chefjohntesar
