This donut is inspired on an Italian dessert, where they drown vanilla gelato in espresso.
The inspiration is great, but the flavor of affogato didn’t come through for me in the donut.
It was a very good and satisfying donut, but if I hadn’t know the name, I would have never guessed the source of inspiration.
Still the COQUITO donut remains my favorite option and the only donut worthy of the price.
I know the price reflects the effort, craftsmanship and the quality of the ingredients, but all that needs to result in a wow inside of someone’s mouth in order for that someone to justify extra expense.
They look very pretty and make a beautiful gift for a special occasion, but it’s over $50 for a dozen
I would gladly take a hot Krispy Kreme donut over this one any day for $8 a dozen!
