Autana is the name of a mountain in the Amazon state of Venezuela close to the border with Colombia. The name is appropriate, because these arepas, are looking at the others from above!
It felt like eating a well composed salad inside of beautifully made arepa. I truly enjoyed the care put into each component of the dish as well as the thought process in the combination of the ingredients.
The salad attacked all 5 of the essential flavors perceived by my tongue without being overwhelming. The dressings were on the sweet side, so adding their homemade hot sauce worked wonders for me.
I ate the whole thing and didn’t feel full, but it was still very satisfying without any guilt.
The #arepa itself was infused with beet juice, which made it almost magenta in color. It looked cool and it added a touch earthiness and sweetness to the cornmeal. I also appreciated the extra hidden nutritional value.
I would eat this again any day!
My meat eating counterparts said the #picanha in their arepas was pretty perfect and it was made to order. WELL DONE!
I heard the burgers were very good, so I’ll be back for round 2 very soon!
