I really like everything matcha. It has a natural bitterness and earthiness that once it’s paired with sweetness it creates this perfect balance. It applies to a hot or cold drink, to a dessert or ice cream in this case.
This spot knows the right recipe to create that contrast I just mentioned. There are other matcha spots doing similar recipes, but they’re either too sweet or too bitter. This place has the secret sauce!!!
This particular concoction, has matcha shaved ice, topped with matcha/vanilla soft serve swirl. It is accompanied by red adzuki beans, Japanese chestnut and mochi balls.
If you’re adventurous go with this option, if Japanese sweet red beans paired with your ice cream sounds like too much, just get the soft serve. It’s worth it! They have an ube option, if matcha isn’t your thing.
Everything they have is pretty great!
I hadn’t had the chance to try it locally, and in a recent visit to San Francisco we tried it and loved it, and felt lucky to know we had one in town!
