I was told to try the duck, and honestly, if I had looked at the menu without being steered, I would have ordered the duck.
This could potentially be a great dish, but it’s not quite there yet.
The duck was super crispy and cooked perfectly, but smothering it with Hoisin sauce wasn’t a good idea.
Hoisin sauce is a delicious asian style bbq sauce, but it’s strong and in this case it overwhelmed the dish. If it had been thinned out into a glaze, instead of just dumping it on top or just served on the side…
And to make matters worse, the mash potatoes seemed like they had been brought back to life in a steamer from the day before. They should have never made the plate.
This was clearly a kitchen management issue, because if they had been fresh it could have worked well.
I say: clean it up and let me know, I would want to eat this duck again!
