I was a fan since they opened on Mills several years ago, when nobody knew who they were… back when Orlandians still thought that Mexican was Tex-Mex and not everyone got it.
I hadn’t been to their newest location in SODO and I loved the venue.
SUPER CHILL!
Overall the food was delicious, if anything I have some minor suggestions for improvement.
I’m not a fan of chunky guacamole, it could be a matter of taste, but I want the avocado to shine, and I felt the veggies were taking the lead. I prefer my pico and my guac separately, if you know what I mean.
The Vegetarian Taco and the Cilantro-Poblano Rice needed an extra smidge of salt. Seems trivial, but they don’t have salt and pepper shakers nor other salsas to compliment the food. I like the high road, but if you’re gonna take it, then get the seasoning right. (Don’t worry about the people with low sodium diets or preferences, that’s why it’s called the high road)
The Smoked Greens Taco was pretty amazing. I really loved how it made me feel like I was eating BBQ without the meat. This taco gave me my “good food” fix!
Last but not least, The Chipotle Choco Flan… I almost didn’t order it, because I was expecting the traditional flan layered with chocolate cake. Oh! And the guava threw me off too.
Luckily, my curiosity saved the day, because it was my favorite thing…
This dessert, is up there!
The chocolate flan wasn’t really sweet nor hot. It was smoky, spicy and bitter. The sweetness came primarily from the guava sauce, with tied everything together with its fruity element.
This dessert attacked my taste buds on all fronts and it satisfied my palate with different textures.
PRETTY AMAZING!!!
