They opened Friday at 5pm and I walked in at 5:15. I didn’t even give them a chance to stretch their legs… 🐽
I have organized my pics in order of importance, starting with my favorites.
The Coconut Bread apart from being amazingly executed, it also provided a warm childhood memory. I grew up eating “Piñitas” in Barranquilla and these are an improved version.
I could easily come back over and over to eat these bad boys and wash them down with numerous Boulevardiers.
That’s actually my second pic, and this drink is a masterpiece. It’s made with a strawberry-balsamic shrub made in-house that just put it over the top. I’m still not sure if it would be better with a big ice or cubes… but that’s me just splitting hairs.
The guava cocktail sauce countering the fried yucca is mind blowing. Guava and horseradish are bold and unique flavors on their own and together they just chill each other out. I loved it!
The Jerk Cauliflower was flavor central. It made my tastebuds dance the right way. I was a little concerned about the tenderness of the florets, but the chef explained he liked it cooked all the way through. I got it as a side instead of the main dish. I need to come back to experience it as an entrée.
The heart of palm Caesar Salad was a little over dressed and it felt a little too mainstream with the use of the pre cut parmesan flakes.
Lastly, dessert. I was conflicted between getting the flan and this chocolate sphere. The banana ganache was the defining element and it was my favorite thing. I think less bells and whistles with the chocolate and highlight the banana.
This restaurant isn’t fine dining just in case you were wondering. Florida Chic Casual is the combination of words that come to mind.
Come and check out this new concept and remember that fine tuning doesn’t normally happen in the first hour of service.
Save me a seat at the bar and keep the bread hot for me… I’ll be back soon!
